I'm not a big fan of catalogue reviews and I think this sentiment is the same to all. Catalogue reviews have too little to analyze and write about. However, I do not resist writing a few words about the last work of Tom Pierron, "The 2003 Catalogue of Queen Elizabeth II British Postage Stamp Errors", because it is a singular work to errors in Queen Elizabeth II postage stamps.
This catalogue details, illustrates and values every known major Queen Elizabeth II postage stamp errors covering imperforates, phosphor errors, missing colors, graphite errors, inverts, watermark errors, multiple impressions, wrong values and much more. Machines and commemorative issues are covered in full. Bar a few exceptions, stamp booklets and first day covers are not included in this edition.
Stamps appear in date order. Five sections exist: Pre-decimal special commemorative issues, decimal special commemorative issues, wilding definitives, pre-decimal machine definitives and decimal machine definitives.
Entries start with the date of issue and are followed by the denomination and the name of the stamp of the series. Normal stamps image appears alongside errors for easy reference. Known quantities are listed. Prices appear in Pounds Sterling (GBP), Euros (EUR) and US Dollars (USD). The Euro and US Dollar prices are meant as rough guides only, because of the fluctuations in exchange rates.
The accompanying CD-ROM contains information that can be searched, sorted and printed. Images and details of more than 2,300 Queen Elizabeth II normal stamps exist alongside all known major errors. The CD-ROM is compatible with Microsoft Windows (95, 98, 2000 and XP) and Apple OS (OS 8.1 through to OS X).
